The first rule of being a hipster is you don’t talk about being a hipster. It is implied by your obvious coolness and your innate ability to know where the coolest places are to grab a bite or a drink at. What about the rest of us? No matter how hard we try to pull that vintage T randomly pulled from the drawer or the moto leather jacket, it just doesn’t work and we always seem to be the last to know when it comes to the trends. Well, now is the time get in the grove. If you are planning some time in NYC, these are some of the most hipster hangouts in NYC prove just how cool you are.
Marlow & Sons is located on Broadway in the uber-hip Brooklyn. This place is so cool they don’t even put the ingredients of their dishes on the menu. You are just met with simple words like Chorizo, or Cauliflower. You can ask your server what each dish entails, but isn’t is far more exciting to be surprised and delighted when your meal arrives at your table?
Five Leaves is located on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, one of the hippest hipster neighborhoods in the world. They don’t take reservations, so expect to wait almost an hour and a half for a table. It will be well worth it though, as they serve amazing oysters and delicious truffle fries. You can also say with superiority that you were able to get a table here.
Now to actually step out of Brooklyn and head onto the city, look no further than Dimes on Division Street. Located on the very low end of the Lower East Side, this establishment is run by a former Five Leaves employee. The fare here is simple and healthy, but let that not be a deterrent as it is delightful.
You are now in the know of the hipster places to dine; it’s just a matter of getting down the look. Or, you can ignore the disdainful side glances of the actual hipsters, and just be yourself. After all you know how cool you are underneath it all, obviously you’re in the know, and you are dining at the current hippest places in NYC!
